On Saturday February 9th, 27 MTMS 8th graders traveled to New York City to see the production of To Kill a Mockingbird on Broadway. Reading To Kill a Mockingbird is a highlight of the 8th grade Language Arts curriculum, with students participating in many interesting extension activities related to the book, including analysis of the film adaptation, researching the book's censorship history and the enactment of the popular Mock Trial.
Four Mendham Township Middle School students have been selected to participate in the prestigious Jr. High Regions honor band, sponsored by the NJSMA (North Jersey School Music Association.) 8th grade bass players, Michael Ewing and Giovanni Lombardo were accepted into the Junior Region I Symphonic Winds Ensemble, with Lombarbo earning the first bass chair position. 8th grade percussionist Jack Xu and 7th grade trumpet player Chloe Brodeur were accepted into the Region I Concert Band.
