Mr. Angulo-Pizarro (Mr. AP)
The Mendham Township Middle School Choral Department offers all MTMS students an opportunity to sing. All choirs at MTMS are designed to introduce students to the art of singing, while concentrating on proper breathing techniques, foreign languages, varying styles, and vocal production. As choral music encompasses music theory, history, and aesthetic values, every singer will have a deeper sense of engagement through singing.
5th Grade Choir meets every Sixth Period on Wednesdays and performs folk music, pop music, classical music, and more throughout the school year. Any 5th grader may elect to take this enrichment course.
Concert Choir meets on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7:20AM and perform in at least 2 concerts a year: a holiday concert in December and a spring concert in May, in addition to any other performances. Any 6th, 7th, or 8th graders may elect to take this course.
Chorale, our advanced choral ensemble, meets on Friday mornings at 7:20AM and also performs in at least 2 yearly concerts: a holiday concert in December and a spring concert in May, in addition to any other performances. Acceptance to this ensemble is only done through audition. It is strongly encouraged that students participate in Zero Period Choir if they successfully audition for Chorale.
When possible, MTMS choirs perform in the community, at school events, and at competitions, thus, requiring a high level of commitment and musicality. Students will be able to express themselves musically through singing and performing.
