Special Education Staff

Mrs. Elizabeth Barter ~ Special Education/ In-Class Support

Mrs. Barter received her B.A. in Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education and her M.A. in Educational Technology from the College of St. Elizabeth. She has been teaching in the Mendham Township School District since 2001. She has worked in all grade levels and in most subject areas. Mrs. Barter is looking forward to another great school year.

Mrs. Corinne Butler ~ Math

Corinne Butler began teaching at Mendham Township Middle School in September 1996. She graduated from Seton Hall University in May 1995 with a double major of elementary education and special education. She also has a masters degree in education. Since starting her teaching career in Mendham, Mrs. Butler has taught grades 5 through 8 resource center math and has been a support teacher in all grade levels and content areas. Mrs. Butler is also the co-advisor for the 8th grade class, coordinating and organizing 8th grade trips and fundraisers.

Ms. Diana Gomez ~ Special Education - In-Class Support

Ms. Gomez is passionate about education and holds a Masters Degree in Educational Management from UNIBE in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.  She has been a Middle School Math teacher for over 15 years and for the last 6 years worked as Middle School Principal at an international school in the Dominican Republic.  Outside of school, Ms. Gomez loves to draw, read, and spend time with her family and is very excited to join the team at Mendham Township Middle School.

Ms. Carol Hueston ~ Special Education/ Language Arts

Carol Hueston has been teaching special education since 1999. Mrs. Hueston has been teaching at Mendham Township Middle School since 2001 as both a 7th and 8th grade resource room language arts teacher and an in-class support teacher for social studies. Mrs. Hueston earned a BS in Special Education and a BA in Elementary Education from Monmouth University where she also played lacrosse. She enjoys reading popular fiction and literature, and she encourages her students to love books. She started the girls’ lacrosse program at MTMS in 2002 and is currently the head coach of both the lacrosse and field hockey teams.

Ms. Noel Lazoricek ~ Special Education – In-Class Support

Ms. Lazoricek has been teaching at the Mendham Township Middle School since 1998. She previously spent a year and a half at the Elementary School. Ms. Lazoricek has a Bachelor of Arts degree from William Patterson University and a Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning from NOVA Southeastern University. She currently provides academic support for grades five through eight and enjoys being a part of the middle school team.

Ms. Melissa Lucia ~ Special Education/ In-Class Support

Ms. Lucia graduated from Montclair State University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Family and Child Studies and Elementary Education, K-6. She then enrolled at Centenary University where she received her Teacher of Students with Disabilities certificate. Ms. Lucia is currently pursuing her Master’s in Special Education. Ms. Lucia has worked primarily with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the Allegro School. She is very passionate about teaching and is excited to work at Mendham Township Middle School as a special education teacher. When she is not teaching, Ms. Lucia loves traveling, cooking, kickboxing, and spending time with her friends and family.

Mrs. Charlene Pintado ~ Special Education - In-Class Support

Mrs. Pintado began teaching at Mendham Township Middle School in 2001. She has been an in class support teacher in grade five Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts since 2005. Mrs. Pintado earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Kean University in 2001. She also holds a teaching certificate in Elementary Education. Prior to working at MTMS, Mrs. Pintado taught at The Matheny School in Somerset County.

Ms. Allison Steitz ~ Special Education - In-Class Support

Ms. Steitz received her bachelors in Elementary (K-5) and my masters in Special Education (K-8) at the University of Scranton. She is  currently in a graduate program at Montclair State University for middle School Mathematics. Ms. Steitz is following in her grandmother's footsteps as she was a middle and high school mathematics teacher and studied at Montclair. One of her students was Ms. Steitz's Geometry teacher in high school!  Her goal is to make math fun and understandable to all students to help prepare them.

Mrs. Jennifer Vazquez ~ Language Arts (Special Education)

Mrs. Jennifer Vazquez has taught at Mendham Township Middle School since 2000. Prior to that, she taught in Jersey City and Philadelphia. Mrs. Vazquez received her undergraduate degree in Special Education and has her masters in Literacy and Reading, while working on her advanced degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She is a certified reading specialist and certified Wilson Reading Instructor. In her free time, Mrs. Vazquez loves to spend time with her family hiking, traveling, and cooking. She is an avid reader and loves to share her passion for reading and writing with students.
