Welcome to Miss Jones’ Second Grade Classroom: The Piglet Class!
My name is Katelyn Jones, and I am so excited for us to work together this year! We are going to have the best year full of learning, growing, and laughing!
Throughout the past couple of years since I have begun working in classrooms and other school settings, I have learned how to better appreciate the process of learning, rather than solely focusing on the end goal. This teaching philosophy helps me to meet each student where they are, and to provide them with the best and most appropriate guidance that I can while helping them progress through their educational journey.
In my classroom, I encourage inquiry, exploration, and engagement. This means that I highly value the importance of asking questions, staying curious, and working in team settings to further our understanding of different educational topics. As your teacher, it is my goal to teach you lots of skills and information that will help you grow in all areas of your life, both inside and outside of our classroom. I am so grateful to join you on your journey this year! Get ready for some fun!
A little bit about me: I attended the same university for 5 years, where I earned 2 degrees. In 2019, I earned a Bachelor's Degree in English from Fairfield University. In 2020, I earned a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Fairfield University Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions. Soon after graduating, I joined the MTES family and had the privilege of teaching First Grade from 2020-2021 and Second Grade from 2021-2022. Now, I am so excited to begin my third year of teaching here!
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, baking, playing games, and spending time with my family, friends, and puppy!
I look forward to having the most fun and memorable year together!
