Welcome to the Sunshine Class! I am excited for a fun-filled year ahead and cannot wait to meet you!
I began my education career in 2010 as a Kindergarten teacher, but I've enjoyed teaching pre-k, first grade, and second grade, as well. I joined the MTES community in 2016 and absolutely love it here! Each year, I meet such kind, energetic, creative, and lovable children. I enjoy watching them grow and learn throughout the year. It is amazing to see their transformation from August to June!
I graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education. I couldn’t WAIT to start teaching the following September and jumped right in! A few years later, I decided it was time to begin my Master’s degree in Reading at Montclair State University. I graduated in 2018, while teaching first grade.
When I am not teaching or planning for our awesome class, I enjoy reading, baking, concerts, doing anything art related, traveling, relaxing on the beach, hiking, and spending time with my family and friends.
We are going to have a wonderful year together!

Welcome to Miss Jones’ Second Grade Classroom: The Piglet Class!
My name is Katelyn Jones, and I am so excited for us to work together this year! We are going to have the best year full of learning, growing, and laughing!
Throughout the past couple of years since I have begun working in classrooms and other school settings, I have learned how to better appreciate the process of learning, rather than solely focusing on the end goal. This teaching philosophy helps me to meet each student where they are, and to provide them with the best and most appropriate guidance that I can while helping them progress through their educational journey.
In my classroom, I encourage inquiry, exploration, and engagement. This means that I highly value the importance of asking questions, staying curious, and working in team settings to further our understanding of different educational topics. As your teacher, it is my goal to teach you lots of skills and information that will help you grow in all areas of your life, both inside and outside of our classroom. I am so grateful to join you on your journey this year! Get ready for some fun!
A little bit about me: I attended the same university for 5 years, where I earned 2 degrees. In 2019, I earned a Bachelor's Degree in English from Fairfield University. In 2020, I earned a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Fairfield University Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions. Soon after graduating, I joined the MTES family and had the privilege of teaching First Grade from 2020-2021 and Second Grade from 2021-2022. Now, I am so excited to begin my third year of teaching here!
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, baking, playing games, and spending time with my family, friends, and puppy!
I look forward to having the most fun and memorable year together!
Hello! My name is Mrs. Theresa Milow and I teach second grade at MTES. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Stockton College and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Monmouth University. I have been teaching at Mendham Township Elementary School since 2001. I have taught second, third, and fourth grades.
I live nearby in Morristown and enjoy spending time with my family. Mr. Milow and I have two great kids, both in middle school. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy reading, cooking, traveling, and spending time outside.
It is a pleasure watching children grow academically, socially, and emotionally throughout the year. In my classroom I try to foster a love of learning, a willingness to take risks and make mistakes, a positive growth mindset, and the importance of practicing the Golden Rule (treating others the way you would like to be treated).
Hello! My name is Miss Andrea Fattorusso and I teach second grade. We are going to have the best year together!
This will be my first-year teaching, and I am so excited to join the MTES Family. I graduated from Centenary University in 2022 with a Bachelors in elementary and special education. During my student teaching, I held an internship with Great Meadows working primarily in kindergarten and LLD classrooms.
When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy camping and traveling with my family. I also like to cook and bake with my friends in my free time. Last winter I traveled to Brazil, and I am currently working on learning Portuguese.
My goal is to provide a memorable school year, while building the students love for learning. In my classroom, I want all students to feel welcome and to try their hardest. It is okay to make mistakes; what matters the most is that you get back up and try again. I look forward to watching your children grow and cannot wait to get to know all of them in the fall!
Welcome to Room 206! My name is Mr. Kevin O’Keefe. This is my 11th year at MTES and my 9th year teaching 2nd grade. I’ve taught elementary school in North Jersey for sixteen years after a twenty year career as a Prudential Insurance agent.
My goal is simple for your child- to appreciate and love learning for its own sake. With your help, we will set up specific goals and plans for your son or daughter. I will stay in touch with you throughout the school year to make sure your child’s self esteem is sky high. My hope is that every student in 206 takes charge of their own learning and begins to see school as something that is not only fun and engaging, but productive and life changing. It’s a mindset, but I will try to instill in your child that 2nd grade is just the beginning of a lifetime journey that celebrates literacy, problem solving and critical thinking.
I grew up in Poughkeepsie, NY and went to Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT from 1980-1984. This is where I met my wife Lisa and we have been happily married now for 35 years.
We have lived in Allendale NJ for the last 30 years. We have two children that have now started their own careers. Our son Ryan, 30, is living in Philadelphia and just finished his first year of residency as a physician at the University Of Pennsylvania. Our daughter Lauren, 26, is living in NYC and just finished her fourth year as an emergency room registered nurse at NY Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center.
In addition to my undergraduate degree from Fairfield University, I also have a masters degree in teaching instruction from the College of New Jersey.

Welcome to Mrs. Pieper's Second Grade Classroom: The Super Stars!
My name is Darlyne Pieper and I am delighted to be your child's second grade teacher. The year is off to a great start and I am looking forward to many new and exciting times in the year ahead.
I am confident we will have a wonderful year. The second grade curriculum is a lot of fun. We will be learning to think while we read, write and publish more exciting stories, add and subtract three-digit numbers, and so much more!! We will study ourselves, our community, and other places across the United States. We will learn about our bones, the weather, solids and liquids, and fossils. We also will be reading many wonderful books and creating fun projects. You will be proud to see how much your child has accomplished by the end of the school year next June.
I love teaching second grade! The children are at the age where they are excited to learn new things, to explore the world around them, and to embrace new ideas. I strongly believe a child doesn't care how much you know until he/she knows how much you care. I care very much about your child, and his/her success as a student. I look forward to forging a partnership with you to ensure that your child knows he/she is cared for very much.
A little about me… I grew up the daughter of an Air Force pilot, living and traveling around the world. I earned a BA from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from George Washington University. I hold a NJ Teaching Certification K-6 and have been teaching elementary school since 2001. My husband and I live in Basking Ridge and have successfully launched our two sons. We will just bookmark that subject for now. I am sure your child will share some stories over the course of the year.
I look forward to getting to know you and working together this school year!
