The Mendham Township School 2 year old program stresses care and safety, and the nurturing of learning through fun and exploration. The scheduling, pacing, and rhythm of these activities are recognized via the principles of early childhood education, which encourage each child to develop and grow at their own pace. Throughout the program, children will enjoy experiences that stimulate academic, social-emotional and physical growth. Fostering a love of learning is a key of this program. Children will also learn and grow in the areas of self-esteem and respect for others.
My name is Alison Kentos and I am so excited to be the Tiny Tigers teacher!
I have over 20 years of experience as a teacher, leader and advocate in the early childhood education field. I co-host a podcast for parents and early childhood educators called "How Preschool Teachers Do It." I serve on both the local and state governing boards for the New Jersey Affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). I am an advocate for early childhood education, having promoted high quality preschool education with our state representatives in Congress and Senate.
I am a graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Family Studies/Birth through Age Five Education. I have taken graduate school classes at College of Saint Elizabeth and hold a New Jersey Preschool through Grade Three Teacher Certification.
I live in Rockaway Borough with my dog, Rusty. I enjoy reading mystery novels, taking walks with my dog, cheering on my WVU Mountaineers and watching television and movies. Aside from my work with NAEYC, I volunteer with Deirdre's House and I am active in the Kiwanis Club of Randolph.
I am very happy to be a part of the Mendham Township Elementary School team and look forward to working with all the children, families and staff!
