Performing and visual arts programs are offered beginning at the earliest grades. At the Elementary School, our youngest students enjoy dedicated music and visual art classes as well as opportunities to gain experience performing before an audience. Elementary School Art students explore drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, and weaving, and they may choose to take chorus, orchestra, or band throughout the year. In the Middle School, students can take year-round art in our dedicated Middle School arts studio. Middle School students take general music, band, or orchestra. Our Middle School visual and performing arts programs are award-winning. Students in band, orchestra, and performance ensembles perform throughout the year, while young thespians take the stage in spring musicals.
All of our students learn from teachers who are accomplished artists and musicians, and they gain an appreciation and understanding for culture and the history of art. Among NJ schools with fine arts programs, the Mendham Township School District has long been recognized for its strength in curriculum and its broad range of offerings in performing arts and visual arts.
