2021-2022
2021-2022 DISTRICT Goals:
-
Social/Emotional Learning
-
Integrate SEL at all three levels of school functioning (curriculum and instruction, school wide practices and policies, family and community partnerships)
-
Identify, design, and provide social-emotional learning resources and training to students, as well as to staff.
-
-
Diversity, Equity & Inclusivity
-
Advance the work of diversity, inclusivity and equity throughout the district. This is a multi-year goal, and is based on incorporating data-driven research into equity education for the MTSD faculty, collaborative efforts with the community, and curriculum development to better reflect equitable access for all. The initial focus of work is for the district to engage in opportunities for anti-racist learning and development to produce a set of anti-racist standards. Building on this initial work, the broader longer-term goal is to ensure educational equity based on race, gender, sexual orientation, and ethnicity. Mendham’s organizational leaders and Mendham’s organizational Change team will ensure that there is a cohesive anti-racist vision among employees through the anti-racist standards. The anti-racist standards are designed to ensure equity, based on race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and for individuals with disabilities. This will ensure that the organization engages in opportunities for anti-racist learning and development. The following actions will support Mendham’s community in reaching these goals:
-
Leadership team will recruit a diverse group who will engage in eight anti-racism training sessions in order to build a guiding coalition.
-
Change Team members produce a set of anti-racist standards with board participation and approval.
-
Given (1) the role literature plays in serving as mirrors, windows, and sliding glass doors that can support building equity literacy skills and (2) the importance of developing background knowledge to advance reading fluency and comprehension, middle school students will have opportunities to engage in diverse literature and rich, text-based discussions as appropriate during instruction.
-
Leadership team has baseline knowledge of strengths and weaknesses of the district and the knowledge, skills, and abilities that individuals need to build around anti-racism evidenced by providing the board regular updates on progress toward goals.
-
-
-
Fiscal Responsibility
-
The District will work to provide adequate resources that support our academic goals and reflect the financial values of the community. To assure achievement of this goal, the District will work with its Ad Hoc Revenues Committee to:
-
Evaluate alternative sources of income to support District programming and offset future local tax levy increases.
-
-
The District will also focus on the maintenance of facilities and grounds through development of a successful referendum plan. The Ad Hoc Referendum Committee will develop a plan that addresses priority projects while attempting to find tax savings.
-
The District will continue to engage with neighboring school districts to pursue shared services opportunities.
-
2022-2023 BOARD Goals:
-
Social/Emotional Learning
-
The Board will monitor through the Tri-Annual Reporting by District Administration the integration of SEL at all three levels of school functioning (curriculum and instruction, school wide practices and policies, family and community partnerships). The report will include resources that have been identified, designed, and provided to students.
