Great Web Sites for Kids
Search this site created by the Association for Library Service to Children (American Library Association)

Carol Hurst's Children's Literature Site (reviewed books)
Reviewed books may be searched by title, author, or grade level. This is just part of a site with many other lists (related school subjects, genres, etc.)

The Children's Book Council
The Council works to bring books and young people together and to encourage literacy. Has pages designed specifically for parents and teachers - great site.

Children's Literature
Their stated mission is "to help teachers, librarians, childcare providers and parents make appropriate literary choices for children." The site has monthly interviews with children's book authors and illustrators in addition to excellent book reviews.

Children's Literature Web Guide (authors and illustrators)
Authors, resources, lessons and ideas for the classroom (some areas of the site have become outdated, but it's still worth a visit).

The Database of Award-Winning Children's Literature
This searchable database allows you to create a customized reading list drawn from the results of approximately forty awards such as the British Carnegie Medal as well as our well known Newbery Medal and Coretta Scott King Award.

Guys Read
Jon Scieszka created this website to encourage boys to read. He has a list of recommended books and a form to suggest your own favorite title.

Index to Internet Sites: Children's and Young Adults' Authors & Illustrators
This site on the James Madison University server is "a meta-site designed to foster easy access to curriculum related sites for teachers, school librarians, parents and students." It is maintained by a professor emeritus from the library school.

International Children's Digital Library
The International Children's Digital Library (ICDL) is a five-year project funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to create a digital library of international children's books.

Just for Kids Who Love Books
Created by an elementary school librarian, the site is completely dedicated to making kids avid readers with a comprehensive alphabetized listing of author links.

Learning About the Author and Illustrator Pages
This very useful page is on the website created by a professor in the Rutgers University School of Library and Information Science. Lots of excellent links.

One Book New Jersey
This is a joint effort of the State of New Jersey and its libraries to foster the reading of good literature.

The Reading Corner
"The purpose of this site is to write book reviews for readers in grades 2-8 that give a little more information than what you find in the library catalog." This site was created by Mona Kerby, an associate professor at Western Maryland College and is sponsored by a public library.

The Internet Public Library (links below)
Pages on the Internet Public Library (IPL) containing links to on-line stories, authors, writing, and booklists.
