I want to speak during the public comment portion of the meeting. What is the procedure to follow?

Raise your hand and be recognized and clearly state your name and address. Each speaker may be limited to five minutes. If you need more time, you can continue your comments during the public comment period at the end of the meeting.

There are more than seven people seated at the Board table. Who are they and what is their role?

The Superintendent of Schools - Mrs. Christine Johnson is a Board member with all of the rights and privileges of a Board member but does not vote on any item. The Superintendent is the Chief Executive Officer of the District and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the School District and supervision of all employees.

The Business Administrator/Board Secretary - Pamela Ranco reports to the Superintendent of Schools and is responsible for the financial affairs of the District and for the secretarial work associated with the Board business. In addition, the BA/Board Secretary is administrative officer of election.

The School Board Attorney - The Board Attorney is the legal advisor to the Board and District and attends meetings when requested.

The most reliable way to contact Board members is by writing to them. Their e-mail addresses are located on the Members page.

Do members of the Board of Education get paid?

No, the members of the Board volunteer their time and are reimbursed for reasonable expenditures incurred as a part of their official duties.

What is the length of term of a Board Member?

The length of an elected Board Member is three years.

I want to become more involved in the School District. How do I begin?

By joining the H.S.A., contact the Board of Education for community input opportunities, volunteer for school activities or check the mail, newspaper and backpacks for information.
