The annotated list of web links below was generated by the MTMS staff for our school community to share and enjoy.  At the time they were posted on this page, our linked pages contained no visible inappropriate links, ads, or information.  Please note that web pages do frequently change and it is therefore our parents / guardians responsibility to  review all of the web pages that their children will visit on a regular basis – even if they are linked from our school’s web page.   Feel free to email us your favorite sites.

A website that provides a wide variety of interactive activities for students in grades (K – 5) or (6 – 12).  This is a compilation of many websites that have been teacher tested and are thought to be of help to students that need a little additional practice and review in a large variety of skills.  Many of the activities are in game format which would be of interest to the students.  Some of the links provide an easy way into a website to practice a particular concept without having to register and log on to individual sites.

This site will actually teach pre-algebra and algebra skills and concepts through an interactive, human voice led lesson.  There is a variety of mathematical topics and lesson that will tutor your child in a specific area.  There are interactive quizzes to track your child’s progress.

Practice your math skills with these fun and challenging games. There are action games, puzzles, and other learning activities. Concepts include basic math operations, algebra, percent, geometry, and money.

For our most advanced students, this web page offers extremely thorough explanations to the most complex concepts associated with algebra and geometry.   This is an extremely advanced resource that provides a plethora of insight.  There are number theory, statistics, and recreational math sections as well.  If you are up to the challenge this site is for you.

This comprehensive math resource provides answers to questions about mathematics through a search box.   Also includes a mathematics dictionary with an exhaustive list of searchable mathematics formulas.  There is a ‘practice basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division’ section where students can create customized timed tests for drilling facts.  There is a subject selection tool bar in the left hand section of the screen for easy navigation.  The pre-algebra and algebra sections are excellent.  Once on the web page, select the topic you wish to explore from the buttons on the left hand side of the page.

This page has hundreds of mathematical terms organized by letter.  Definitions include interactive examples and related activities.  For example, clicking on the word product produced a definition, an example, and a practice engine where students can run through their math facts.

This web site was developed to help students improve their math skills interactively.  It Includes games such as MATHO which combines bingo and math, and concentration.  This website focuses on strengthening skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  There is also an option for questions focusing on algebra.  There is also a homework helper feature where students can put in a problem and the website will tell them if they are correct.  There are a number of math topics students can focus on including order of operations, basic math facts, rounding, square roots, fractions, inequalities and money.  There are 18 types of flashcards that can be customized to a student’s level.  There are flashcards for whole numbers, as well as algebra and geometry.  A teacher or student can also create their own flashcards, or compete with others around the world.

AAA Math features a comprehensive set of interactive arithmetic lessons. Unlimited practice is available on each topic which allows thorough mastery of the concepts.  A wide range of lessons (Kindergarten through Eighth grade level) enables learning or review to occur at each individual's current level.   Immediate feedback prevents practicing and learning incorrect methods, which is a common result of traditional homework and worksheets.  Practice can continue as long as desired in a non-threatening format which helps build self-esteem and confidence.

The website offered through Holt assists students in homework by allowing students to watch a video tutorial on different topics.  Students can select from the chapter and section in the textbook that they are working on in class to get extra help or assistance.  After the tutorial, the student can practice the skill to check for accuracy.  This guided practice offers students an extra outlet for support.  During the tutorial, there are helpful tips given to help students remember procedures.  Once at the sight, click the mathematics button on the left hand side to begin.

Kid Info says it is the ‘web’s best homework and student, teacher and parent reference resource.’  It does have eight large sections with a lot packed into each one.  The sections are:  Brain Teasers/Problem Solving Activities, Geometry, Math Games, Math Help, a section with Math Links, a Math Magazine, Money and Investing, Patterns, and
Symmetry, and Tessellations.  Each one has a variety of activities and tasks for children and sometimes, their parents.  This site will be a great help for students, parents, and teachers. 

 

A quick look at the site will show that there is an immense amount of information and activities for students grades 1-7+.  The brain teaser section helps to improve problem solving skills, as well as well as interactive mathematic puzzles and games.  The geometry section takes you online to work on a variety of problems to test your skill.  The math games are packed with FunBrain challenges from making change to fractions.  Math help has a multitude of help for the parent and the student.  It also has a large section on flash cards.  The math link section sends you on your way to browse through many online help links.  Money and math help children make their own checkbooks, teach them about money and banking, as well as learning good money management in a fun and interactive way.  Patterns, symmetry, and tessellations provide tutorials and templates to allow you to make your own tessellations.

Math Slice is a site that has a large variety of mathematical activities for students.  There are worksheets, homework help, test prep games, as well as a notice board for students and parents.  All the worksheets on this site (i.e. mathslice.com) are automatically generated using random numbers and computer algorithms.  They may be printed for free.  Many of the activities can be customized to vary the difficulty of the tasks.  The students are given immediate feedback because most of the activities immediately check their work and tell them whether their answers are correct or incorrect.  Many give hints in order to help a child who is unsure of his or her answer.

A math help web site featuring interactive lessons, worksheets and homework help. Over 500 pages of interactive activities are available for students, educators and parents. Interactive math lessons with a problem-solving approach actively engage students in the learning process.

Improve your math skills and master your math facts with this interactive web site. Fun game teaches addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and elementary algebra. Fun Brain is a top site for online educational games for kids of all ages. (math, grammar, science, spelling, and  history)

This is an extensive library of interactive, web-based virtual manipulatives for many mathematical concepts.   Concepts are grouped into categories for number and operations, algebra, geometry, measurement, data analysis and probability. Age groups are divided into Pre K – 2, 3 – 5, 6 – 8, and 9 – 12.  Some of the manipulatives that are provided are the pattern block, tangram, attribute blocks, money, pattern blocks, geoboards, algebra tiles, triominoes and  pentominoes.  A search box is provided so specific concepts can be found.

This is a website that provides many interesting opportunities for challenging students at all grade levels. These activities provide math challenges that middle-school students can do at home with their families. A frequently asked question section is helpful in addressing parent concerns about math. Additional resources are listed for parent and teacher use.  Math challenges are divided into categories such as Algebra, Geometry, Measurement, Numbers, and Statistics and Probability.
